Natural empathy and compassion that every human being should have. Also, I "got educated" and could not see how anyone could morally justify living otherwise.

Yep , I guess I had the chance to "get educated" too ...
I truly believe that if every human being was aware on how indutrial companies treat animals , what it truelly means to eat meat then 90 percent of people would be vegetarians .

I just feel good about it!
I don't put all that bad energy in my body and I don't cause pain for me to survive.
We don't need to eat meat to live and be healthy.

My choice is based on my belief that life is precious and who are we to assume we are superior just because we have developed the gift of speech. Would the world look at animals differently if they could say "Please don't kill me"?

I was vegetarian for 3 days as part of a school assignment - do something you have never done before and write about it - and I liked it.
I then started researching and flirting with the idea of being vegetarian A LOT.
I finally made a commitment and even tho it is hard for me to deal with, I stick to it.
I love animals and could never kill one intentionally. And I guess I can't wrap my mind around eating meat anymore.
Also thru research I have learned a lot of things I never knew before.

I seem to be both blessed and cursed with an empathic nature. As soon as I knew of their suffering, I couldn't bear to be the cause of it. I felt like a monster for ever being a part of it in the first place. I do see it as an animal holocaust. When humans are treated the way animals are treated, it's considered evil. I don't see why so many can see it as an exception. And for what? A freakin' burger on their plate? Deep-fried nuggets in their kids' "Happy meals"? It just makes my heart ache and my stomach turn.

I noticed a lot of posts have been saying empathy or empathetic to animals.
Do we mean just empathy towards them, or as in an empath?
Just curious.
I don't think anyone intentionally would hurt an animal, like devise a plan.

I think most people probably mean it in terms of being able to put themselves in the place of the animal....to understand it from their point of view. Some people might also mean it in terms of feeling their suffering, as an empath might. I know for myself, I'm hypersensitive in general. It can be painful for me to witness another's pain. I don't know if that qualifies as empathic or empathetic, sometimes it seems it could be either one. I'm more likely to feel another's emotional state than physical one, if that helps with the definition??

True - like I feel sorry for you, or I know how it feels.

Empaths can feel the pain of others and feels others emotions.

Feeling Empathy and sympathy in a situation are more so like "oh I feel for you, I feel sorry for you".

i too am an empath & only realized it recently.  i have suffered for half a century feeling the pain of others.  i cannot know the reason for the pain i feel & then continue to be the cause of it.

I was raised veggie/vegan, but I was given a choice and I've been well imformed on the subject. I'm veggie, almost vegan, by choice, and I wouldn't consider eating meat.
