OK, so i love to play guitar. I play for at least an hour a day, and i love it. I'm currently working on building some serious speed and improving/learning more sweep picking riffs.
Does anyone else here love guitar as much as i do?
When i get a "real" computer (I am using my phone for this) i will post some videos of me playing on Youtube. And you can show some to me as a respose.
I want to here back from whoever is reading this and get a discussion going. I will talk about whatever the heck you want to thats related to guitars.

You just have to find a simple song that you like and try to play a couple chords of riffs from it. That way you will be practicing and enjoying yourself. You can even find simplified versions of popular songs to play on guitar. Songs by Colbie Caillat can be pretty simple on guitar. And Heavy Metal songs tend to be a lot harder. But you can always find some simple ones. The beggining riff for the song Iron Man is actually pretty simple...
Playing an instrument is a really good way to appreciate music more (even if you already love it).

I used to mess around on guitar and knew a lot of parts from songs. I have forgotten it all now tho.
I have several friends who play guitar and who are musicians.
Several family members play guitar - all self taught or by ear.

Wow! A very musical family. I wish i could sing well, but really i can only growl (i'm actually very good at that). My oldest sister plays acoustic guitar and my one of my little sisters sings. I guess i should be thankful that i'm good at guitar \m/

I have a friend who has taken vocal lessons for years - I love her singing voice - she likes to sing opera. She also plays piano.
I took vocal lessons for a while, and I have the Zen Of Screaming DVD by Melissa Cross - have yet to finish (or practice) it.
I have an electric guitar, but my dad played it more than I did. We have an acoustic and I think an older (not really function-able to play) guitar.
Another friend of mine is a musician and her sisters are quite musical as well.

Hey ! I'll be happy to watch your vids on youtube when you post them :)

I used to play guitar but then I had to stop in High School because I had too much work and not enough free time ... :(

But my dad has been playing since he was a teenager and he's doing pretty well ! So , we got a few guitars home ( acoustic , electric , stratocaster , Fender , that kind of nice stuff )

And my cous is a professional guitar player , he's currently teaching classes and trying to make a name in France ...

I used to play but that was a long time ago. My youngest son is learning now and since we both love Metal (Lamb of God, Five Finger Death Punch, Black Label Society, Korn, Pantera, etc) I've been thinking of picking it up again. Maybe the bass this time.

Awesome taste in music, i have to say. \m/ Have you heard of The Agonist? Just thought i'd throw that out there since they're my favorite group (and lead singer is vegan).

Haven't heard of them but will have to look them up. Lately I've been on an Amon Amarth kick but have had Slipknot's "Spit it out" rolling around in my head all day.

Oh my gosh! I had forgotten completely about that song by slipknot. Thats gonna be in my head too... I just recently discovered Amon amarth. I've been playing that song The Pursuit Of Vikings on guitar. Really fun to play.

Has anyone heard of the band Otep or the singer Otep Shamaya?
She is vegetarian.
There is a video of her on peta2 talking about animal cruelty: http://blog.peta2.com/2011/07/check-out-oteps-views-on-animal-rights.html?c=peta2_enews

Yeah, i like Otep. I didn't know she was vegetarian. Pretty cool. Cattle Decapitation is a vegetarian band too. Though i don't really know that much about them... I think Lamb of God is also vegetarian.

LoG's drummer is vegetarian, not sure about the rest of the band. I've listened to Otep and have mixed feelings about them. They're more in the 'Meh' category.

I play guitar. Both acoustic (standard, nylon string, and harp) and electric. I play mainly percussive fingerstyle, jazz, classical, and rock.

I could play a few songs on my acoustic guitar when I was 10/11, but sold my guitar when I became a teen and have forgotten everything I knew now sadly. Music lessons at my school were totally rubbish and I never got the opportuniity to play any instrument there but the music teacher did like guitar music and instead of bothering to teach us anything he used to play us records eg Genesis live etc.

Some of the guitar playing on Frank Zappa's albums blows me away, I used to listen to a lot of other classically trained guitarists such as Joe satriani Jeff beck Eric johnson Yngwie malmsteen etc, but I haven't heart of Buckethead so off to youtube right now!
I hadn't heard of Otep either but listened to their 2011 album earlier on Spotify and can't say it really grabbed me at first listen, will give them another chance.. but I think I prefer Opeth!

Otep is a selective taste.
I think it's either you love Otep or not. Most people I know are like "I've heard of them" or like "eh I don't really like them".
Otep is one of my all time favorites - she does so much -- as an artist but also as an activist.
Otep's newest album is Atavist.
The order is Sevas Tra, House Of Secrets, the_Ascension [which is also just spelled The Ascension], Smash The Control Machine, Atavist.
I have heard a few songs by Opeth - and many people confuse Otep and Opeth - but they last for forever!
