Post quotes that you like or that are motivational.

"Waste no more time arguing about what a good person should be. Be one." -Marcus Aurelius

Do more than expected, expect less than deserved, and fight for what's yours. – Otep Shamaya

"Treat the earth well. It was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children." -Native American Proverb

"I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in life. And I am horribly limited." - Sylvia Plath

"Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up & drowned. The second mouse, wouldn't quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter & crawled out. As of this moment, I am that second mouse."

"Did you know that those who appear to be really strong, are often the most sensitive? Did you know that those who spend all their time protecting others, usually really need someone to protect them? Did you know that three of the hardest things to say are: I love you, I'm sorry and Help me...."

"Be different, be wonderful, be you"

“Sometimes you put walls up not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down.”

“They can’t hurt you unless you let them.”

'The unreal is more powerful than the real, because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. because its only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. stone crumbles. wood rots. people, well, they die. but things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on.'

not a quote exactly, but my fave lyrics at the moment.

'Pick yourself up
And dust yourself off
Get back in the saddle

You're on the front line
Everyone's watching
You know it's serious
We are getting closer
This isn't over

The pressure is on
You feel it
But you got it all
Believe it

When you fall get up, oh oh
If you fall get up, eh eh
Tsamina mina zangalewa
Cuz this is Africa
Tsamina mina, eh eh
Waka waka, eh eh
Tsamina mina zangalewa
This time for Africa'

I'm not sure where the mouse quote came from - I saw it as a status of someone's before - and really liked it.

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." - Pablo Picasso

Art is the only way to run away without leaving home. - Twyla Tharp

"You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you." - Ray Bradbury

The original quote was from Native Americans. Also, it is a motto of caving society.

"Until you have loved an Animal,a part of your soul remains unawakened" - Anatole France

I Love this quote!!
One of my favorites now!!

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."--Jimi Hendrix
"I am who I am today because of the choices I made yesterday."--Eleanor Roosevelt
"Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony."--Ghandi
"Be yourself--everyone else is taken."--Unknown
"Happiness belongs to the self-sufficient."--Aristotle
"One dreamed of becoming somebody. Another remained awake and became."--Unknown
"If you follow the crowd, you might get lost in it."--Unknown

I am the most tired woman in the world. I am tired when I get up. Life requires an effort I cannot make. Please give me that heavy book. I need to put something heavy like that on top of my head. I have to place my feet under the pillows always, so as to be able to stay on earth. Otherwise I feel myself going away, going away at a tremendous speed, on account of my lightness. I know that I am dead. As soon as I utter a phrase my sincerity dies, becomes a lie whose coldness chills me. Don’t say anything, because I see that you understand me, and I am afraid of your understanding. I have such a fear of finding another like myself, and such a desire to find one! I am so utterly lonely, but I also have such a fear that my isolation be broken through, and I no longer be the head and ruler of my universe. I am in great terror of your understanding by which you penetrate into my world; and then I stand revealed and I have to share my kingdom with you.
Anaïs Nin

"We need to make books cool again. If you go home with somebody and they don't have books, don't **** them." —John Waters”

"Art hurts. Art urges voyages - and it is easier to stay at home." -Gwendolyn Brooks

"Sometimes people are beautiful. Not in looks. Not in what they say. Just in what they are." I am the Messenger by Markus Zusak

"There were books everywhere. Looking at people's books is even better than looking in their medicine cabinets." Not a Girl Detective by Susan Kandel

"Catherine Earnshaw, may you not rest so long as I live on! I killed you. Haunt me, then! Haunt your murderer! I know that ghosts have wandered on the Earth. Be with me always. Take any form, drive me mad, only do not leave me in this dark alone where I cannot find you. I cannot live without my life! I cannot die without my soul."
- Heathcliff, Wuthering Heights

'Freedom is not something won through suffering or taken by force. Neither your social standing, nor your occupation matter at all. It is simply accepting who you are and living your life accordingly. That is freedom. ' - Old man, anime Samurai Champloo.

If you have no legs: Run.
If you have no hope: Invent.

'If we are trespassing, then so were the American soldiers who broke down the gates of Hitler's death camps. If we are thieves, then so were the members of The Underground Railroad who freed the slaves from the South. Bravo! Like that one,Waltz. It strikes at the twisted 'morality' used by humanity to justify vivisection.

Quiet women seldom make history.

If you don't make a few enemies, you're not doing anything worth while with your life.

If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention.

I have heard of a quote that goes "Well-behaved women rarely make history".
So it's very similar to the first one posted above.

Ars longa, vita brevis. - Hippocrates

Mahatma Gandhi
The misquote: "Be the change you wish to see in the world."
The actual quote: "If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. ... We need not wait to see what others do."

Henry David Thoreau
The misquote: "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined."
The actual quote (from "Walden"): "I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours."

Nelson Mandela
The misquote: "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. ... As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
The quote is actually from self-help guru Marianne Williamson, The New York Times points out.

Mark Twain
The misquote: "I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure"
The actual quote, which is from Clarence Darrow, not Twain: "Everybody is a potential murderer. I’ve never killed any one, but I frequently get satisfaction reading the obituary notices."

Voltaire
The misquote: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
The actual quote, from Voltaire's "Essay on Tolerance": "Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so too." According to Listverse, the misquote should be attributed to Evelyn Beatrice Hall, author of the 1907 book "Friends of Voltaire."

If you are experiencing bullying, please let us know. Do not surrender. Do not leave us to the ugliness in this world. You are beautiful, you are perfect as you are. – Otep Shamaya

Just be yourself. DGAF what people have to say about it. - MARY MAGDALAN

If you are thinking of committing suicide, I would ask that you don't. First, use that passion that is burning within you to be a light for others. Volunteer at a kids cancer ward, St. Jude's hospital, where some will never have the choice of living or dying. Or consider traveling, perhaps to another country and help children born with HIV or feed refugees. Do something with your beauty, with your sense of passion. Do not remove your hue from this bland world, expand it! Burn bright. Be brave, be bold! Much ♥ & respect. - Otep Shamaya

"I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something. So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life. Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it. Make your mistakes, next year and forever." — Neil Gaiman

"A righteous man regards the life of his animals, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel." -Proverbs 12:10

Do you know what the animals need? Their freedom! Their happiness! Their life!
